Happy Lunar New Year <3

I feel much more aligned with the celebration of the Lunar New year than the traditional western calendar. The rhythms of the seasons, particularly winter call me into an inward reflective space and as the light begins to noticeably grow, I’m ready to start visioning and creating by the time the first new moon of the year comes to bless us. I want to spend more time honoring these natural rhythms in me and in the natural world. The challenge comes with the conflict that arises between my own rhythm and the overriding structures of our culture. As I get ready to enter my fourth and final semester in nursing school, a highly structured, overworked, stressful institutional environment, I’m contemplating how to stay connected to my natural rhythms for the next 15 weeks.
